World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. Motivated by faith in Jesus Christ, World Vision serves alongside the poor and oppressed as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people. They do this by demonstrating God’s unconditional love for all people through our service to the poor — which includes providing for daily needs, working to build peace and promote justice, and partnering with churches and individuals to encourage spiritual transformation.
How phi lamb got involved
In 2010, our Board of Directors voted to make World Vision the national philanthropy of Sigma Phi Lambda. We are excited to partner with such an amazing organization in order to extend the impact that Phi Lamb has on the world. The board chose World Vision because they are involved in so many different types of ministry in the U.S. and in nearly 100 countries around the world, and we wanted each chapter to be able to get involved in a way that best fit with the heart of their members.
our chapter's involvement
In the past years, our chapter has been actively raising money and awareness for World Vision through festivals, social media and the 30-hour famine. Some of our most recent events consisted of actively participating in World Vision's 30-hour famine, where our sisters fasted to raise awareness and consistently prayed with one another for the people working for and impacted by World Vision. Every semester, we strive to come up with creative ways to get the people on our campus and community involved to help us raise money to donate to World Vision, while also educating them on what World Vision is and what we, as individuals, can do to help those in need.
